We started with sweet potatoes.
It was not a failure by any means, but I wouldn't say it was a huge success either. DJ was able to feed Jayden for the first time, which he loved. DJ, that is, although I'm sure if Jayden could talk he might say he loved it too!
DJ said he had been looking forward to feeding Jayden for a long time so that was sweet.
I, on the other hand, felt entirely different about this whole experience. It was surprisingly sad for me. It's silly but I like being the sole provider of Jayden's nourishment. It's amazing that my body has kept Jayden alive and thriving for the first 6 months of his life (and, well, if we're being technical here, my body has actually kept him alive for the additional 9 months prior to that as well). I'm proud of that. And now that Jayden is moving on (or will be soon) to other things as well, it makes me a little sad. I know it was inevitable and I know that all babies go through the stages and I know that I need to get over it but whatever, this momma was a little teary about it all.
But anyway, as for the sweet potatoes, we got a lot of cute, funny faces from Jayden but I don't think any of the sweet potatoes actually made it to the gut.
So I think we will wait another week or so and then try again, possibly with some avocado. Jayden will eat solids when he's ready, but lucky for him, he still has momma's milk to nourish him until he's at least a year old!

Yay!! Great pictures, too! It is a little sad, but so exciting! I'm making some apples as we speak (as I type I guess I should say!). Hadley loved bananas and avacados, and I'm sure Jayden will too :) Hadley is starting to get the hang of eating now, and I feel most of the food is actually geting to her belly and not just all over her clothes.
