Are you curious...

...what I'm doing today?? I am working on making my Christmas gifts! Remember how I said I was trying to add some June Cleaver homeliness to our humble abode? Apparently, what I actually meant was I am trying to be June Cleaver. It seems that I have decided to just jump right on that Holly Homemaker bandwagon.

Things like...

(re) learning how to sew,

can jam,

bake bread,

repurposing junk (I'm not sure if this is something June would put on her resume but it's definitely not something I could imagine any of the Housewives of Orange County doing... you know...the antithesis of June Cleaver...).

Anyway, these things are all on my to-do list. Probably not all on today's to-do list but.... well, maybe they should be all on today's to-do list. That's what June would have done right? I mean she's superwoman!

Is that the face I'm supposed to perfect too? If so, I'll pass. That's not really what I'm going for.

I am finding that I enjoy this Cleaveresque kick quite a bit. In fact, one can be quite creative when it comes to being a housewife. Who knew? Those feminists always make it sound like you are losing a part of yourself and succumbing to a stereotype of "meek little mouse" or something if you choose to embrace the title of housewife. But what they forgot was that some women actually like that sort of thing and so really those feminists are the stiflers. Rather than the stifled. Phew! Can you say tangent? Where did all that come from? Anywaaays....

Does anyone else want to be June Cleaver? Or at the very least, do any of you share some June tendencies? If so, do share! I would be interested to know what you do that makes you feel like you live in the 1950s. (I tell myself that I would have really liked to live during that era, but what I really think I like is the simplicity that the 50s seem to embody. Ahhh, the simple life... I think, in reality though, I would really miss the luxuries of the 2009s.) So what do you do that's oh-so-June?
